Wyoming-based Avante Technology LLC, a business specializing in the development of advanced 3D printing technologies, recently announced its Cloud Automated STL File Analysis & Repair service, Emendo™.

The service is targeted at engineers and professional designers to save precious time repairing and reworking the designed files. Instead of finding faults at the time of additive or subtractive manufacturing, the files can be checked and repaired for compatibility for both manufacturing techniques. With this aim in mind and for solving the following three common problems with STL files, the STL file Analysis & Repair service as launched.

  1. High precision repair of single and multiple component STL files
  2. Repairing large and complex files quickly.
  3. Identifying the cause of the errors to prevent repeating the same design error every time the user designs a new object.

According to Robert Zollo, President of Avante Technology said, “The growth of design workgroups and a more varied range of design software has created the need for more comprehensive repair and file analysis.”

He added, “Emendo™ Cloud delivers high precision repairs of the broader range of STL file types in use today. It also delivers precision repairs at the higher processing speeds cloud-based computing provides.”

Understanding CAD/STL Problems

Emendo not only repairs the problems but also help the engineers understand the common problems faced during designing of CAD/STL files. Emendo provides three modes of viewing access to repair file errors by type, location, and individual facet level. While repairing the files the user understands the issues and can correct his designs in the future.

This service is not specifically to address the 3D printing problems but also helps to repair models for CNC manufacturing. By learning the problems, the users will improve their designs and over a period of time, the designs will be perfectly compatible to manufacture.

Mode of Operation

Users simply drag an STL file to the Emendo Cloud upload box and the file is automatically uploaded, analyzed and displayed for more detailed viewing. The user can rotate and zoom in on the file in solid, translucent and wireframe views to facilitate locating errors and problem zones throughout the 3D file.

The user can select from an automatic repair, or manually set the repair modes and optional settings to optimize repairs for hybrid files, multiple STL component files, and seriously damaged files. The original STL and each repaired version are stored and available for viewing or download.

Two Repair Speeds

The service provides a fast, multi-processor repair as a default. Users wanting very high-performance repair processing can opt for a high-performance mode at a slightly higher price.

Pricing and Availability

Single Repairs start at $6.00. Subscriptions available from monthly to annual terms for individuals, workgroups, and sites. Volume use pricing and OEM licensing are available upon request.
