Caracol, a leader in robotic large format additive manufacturing (LFAM), displayed its robotic large format additive manufacturing machine at the RAPID + TCT 2024 event, alongside partners such as Filament Innovations, a leading US pellet printer manufacturer, and DIVE, a company spearheading the use of AM in the United States, from design and engineering to production.
The three companies are partnering to bring robotic LFAM to the North American market. Companies looking to build large scale parts will be able to directly benefit from the capabilities of Caracol’s Heron AM technology line through both DIVE’s facility in New Jersey and Filament Innovation’s facility in Pennsylvania, giving them access to a new way to develop and manufacture advanced applications.
Caracol exhibits its Large Format Additive Manufacturing (LFAM)

As Caracol expands its global network of companies that use Heron AM for production, it is thrilled to be able to collaborate with some of the world’s leading brands in 3D printing. Working with companies that share its approach to delivering solutions will allow global industrial players to reap the benefits of manufacturing with large format 3D printing and effectively implement it as an industrial solution to integrate their production workflows.
Specifically, DIVE’s newly acquired Caracol Heron AM platform was shown live printing with Airtech’s Dahltram® T-100GF (recycled PETG with glass fibre), a part designed and engineered for robotic LFAM by DIVE’s team. The finished part was an air scoop for jet boats in the motorsport industry, demonstrating how this technology can be used to achieve complex designs and advanced functional parts without the use of costly moulds and tools.
Filament Innovations also demonstrated one of its ICARUS pellet extrusion machines in operation at Caracol’s booth.
Caracol also demonstrated several of the applications it has unlocked for large-scale 3D printing, including aerospace tooling, automotive mock-ups, and finished parts for architecture, construction, and furniture.
