Farsoon, a leading supplier of industrial AM technology in China, has focused on increasing productivity with the introduction of two new multi-laser, large-scale 3D printing system, the FS621M Pro and FS621M-U-4. By lowering operational costs and enabling true industrial-scale series manufacturing, these new systems have enormous potential in aerospace applications.
Farsoon strives to achieve true industrial-scale metal additive manufacturing with faster production rates and best-in-class cost-performance through numerous technological innovations in multi-laser and large-format machines.
FS621M-U-4
The FS621M multi-laser, large-scale 3D printing system (build volume of 620 x 620 x 1100 mm3), announced in July 2020, provides an unparalleled production edge for large-scale applications that favour higher Z axis. As of today, the FS621M system has been installed by more than 50 aerospace and manufacturing customers.
Farsoon further developed the FS621M Pro and FS621M-U-4 platforms based on feedback from a broad industrial user base and application requirements from the aerospace, oil and gas, and energy sectors, for even higher build volume fabrication and batch production capabilities with materials such as titanium alloys, aluminium alloys, nickel-based superalloys, stainless steels, and maraging steels.
FS621M Pro Platform
The FS621M Pro Platform is a multi-laser large-scale 3D printing system with a build volume of 620 808 1200mm and a 30% Y direction extension over the standard FS621M; it can be outfitted with 4 or 6 x 500-watt lasers, increasing productivity for series manufacturing.
The FS621M-U-4 features a significant build volume of 653 Liters, one of the largest in the metal laser sintering market, with a build platform size of 620620mm and vertical axis of 1.7 metre (a 54% increase in Z height compared to the standard FS621M). The exceptional Z height, combined with four 500-watt fibre lasers, opens up a world of new possibilities in large-scale industrial applications.
Multi-laser Large-scale 3D Printing Systems
The advanced multi-laser scanning strategy ensures uniform mechanical properties and surface finish of the parts across the build platform by enabling high calibration accuracy in overlapping areas. Furthermore, robust build process control, as well as real-time recording and monitoring capabilities, ensure optimal build quality.
To improve productivity and quality even further, the FS621M Pro Platform and FS621M-U-4 can be outfitted with a permanent filter module that allows long-term operation for extremely large builds. The powder handling processes of the two 621M systems share a common powder container design, allowing for continuous powder feeding to the build as well as easy exchange and monitoring of powder quality.
Meanwhile, in response to the growing demand for industrialised manufacturing of large-sized parts with shorter lead times, Farsoon plans to further develop the FS621M Pro-8 (eight-laser configuration) and FS621M-U-6 (six-laser configuration) for even higher productivity.
The FS621M Pro-4 (a four 500-watt laser system) will be on display and operational at TCT Asia 2022 in Shenzhen World, China, at Hall 7, Booth H19, with new dates to be announced.
