The market leading manufacturer in desktop SLA 3D printers, Formlabs, recently launched two new SLA 3D printers, Form 3 & Form 3L. Both these 3D printer operate on its Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) ™ Technology.

The Formlabs Form 3 is built upon its previous printer, the Form 2 which was a run-away hit. It received wide-spread compliments and has now become a benchmark in itself for high-quality SLA 3D printing.

The difference in Form 2 & Form 3 or Form 3L is the use of the technology. As mentioned above, both the new printers work on Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) technology. This has helped the printing process to reduce the printing forces.

Let us have a look at the specifications and features of the Formlabs Form 3 SLA 3D Printer.

LOW FORCE STEREOLITHOGRAPHY (LFS)

The new Low Force Stereolithography technology is developed by Formlabs to reduce the stresses normally associated with SLA 3D printing. A compared to Form 2, which uses a directed laser to cure the photocurable resin inside a vat, the Form 3 uses a newly developed flexible tank. This tank reduces the ‘peel force’ experienced by earlier processes and now allows for a linear illumination.

The heart of the machine can be called as the Light Processing Unit (LPU) which is the laser system used to illuminate the build area. This laser system is capable of linear illumination for accuracy and repeatability. With this new technology. Printing can be achieved with fewer supports resulting in even better surface finish.

FEATURES: FORMLABS FORM 3 SLA 3D PRINTER

We have listed below several of the most prominent features of the Formlabs Form 3 SLA 3D Printer.

  1. Reduced Printing Forces

The new Low Force Stereolithography technology reduces the printing forces associated with SLA 3D printing.

  1. Pinpoint Precision

The LPU uses a system of lenses and mirrors to deliver highly accurate and pinpoint precision.

  1. Constant Monitoring

The Formlabs Form 3 constantly monitors the printing and helps maintain the ideal conditions through integrated sensors for a better print performance.

  1. Optical Sensors

The integrated optical sensors work continuously to make corrections for scale and power. It also detects dust to alert the user.

  1. Hassle-free materials management

It is easy to switch between different materials with a simple cartridge system.

  1. Clean Laser Spot

The high-power-density laser is passed through a spatial filter to guarantee a clean laser spot.
