Formlabs, a leader in Stereolithography 3D printers, announced its new Resin Pumping System (RPS) to complete the Formlabs Automation Ecosystem. In addition to the RPS, Formlabs also announced a new Polypropylene Powder material for its SLS 3D printing systems. Both the new additions are aimed at increasing the efficiency, versatility, and scalability of its 3D printing ecosystem.

With over 130,000 printers sold worldwide, Formlabs’ ecosystem is relied on for prototyping and in-house production, and Resin Pumping System and this new material aim to boost in-house 3D printing for consumer goods, industrial and automotive parts, manufacturing prototypes, and more.

Formlabs’ versatile ecosystem includes SLA and SLS 3D printers, as well as over 45 materials used in-house for prototyping and product design, as well as easing supply chain challenges, producing end-use parts, rapid tooling, and more. Formlabs’ response to increased 3D printing production is the Resin Pumping System, which is designed for unattended printing while lowering cost-per-part and waste.

“3D printing production is steadily increasing, and the introduction of Resin Pumping System and Polypropylene Powder are two big steps in our mission to provide professionals with a full ecosystem of the tools they need to bring their ideas to life.”

– Dávid Lakatos, Chief Product Officer, Formlabs

RPS enables 86% Less Packaging Waste

Resin Pumping System will enable increased production with less hassle, lower resin costs, and reduced waste as more industries incorporate 3D printing into their workflows. Resin Pumping System, an accessory for the Form 3 and Form 3L printers, is a plug-and-play replacement for standard one-litre cartridges that seamlessly delivers five litres of resin directly to the printer’s resin tank for five times longer continuous printing.

The Resin Pumping System operates with five-litre containers of select materials at a minimum 10% savings over one-litre cartridges. Resin Pumping System is currently available for $199.

“Skydio is constantly 3D printing to iterate using Form 3+ printers, which provides a huge advantage in hardware development. Resin Pumping System benefitted me and my team because I don’t have to check on the one litre cartridge, which ran out once and caused us to place a frantic, last-minute order. Now, Resin Pumping System and the five litre container reduce the mental burden on me and ensure our printers keep running.”

– Eric Weinhoffer, Senior Hardware Development Specialist, Skydio

Polypropylene Powder for SLS 3D Printing

Polypropylene is the world’s second-most widely produced commodity plastic, widely used for its low-density, lightweight, and chemically resistant properties in consumer goods, packaging, automotive parts, and other applications. Polypropylene Powder will expand the SLS portfolio by allowing users to print polypropylene-based products such as home appliances, electronics, sports equipment, custom lab equipment, prototypes, manufacturing tools, and more, efficiently and at a low cost with Fuse 1+ 30W 3D printers. Polypropylene Powder is currently on the market.

Formlabs’ Resin Pumping System and Polypropylene Powder will make their CES 2024 debut in Formlabs booth #54221.
