Kumovis Showcases the World’s First 3D printer with Clean Room Integration at Formnext 2019

After the successful introduction of its first production 3D printer to the medtech market, Kumovis will show how to build a new ecosystem for the decentralized production of medical devices around it.

To show this year’s Formnext visitors how to manufacture products from high-performance polymers with fewer resources and beyond traditional manufacturing structures, Kumovis will present its new 3D printing ecosystem around KUMOVIS R1 for the first time. Since the start-up is specialized in the development and construction of additive manufacturing systems that are adapted to the high requirements of the medtech industry to contribute to the Kumovis exhibition motto “Shaping the future of medical production.”

According to Kumovis Head of R&D Sebastian Pammer, KUMOVIS R1 is the world’s first 3D printer with clean room integration.”

In addition, additive manufactured devices from materials such as PEEK and ULTEM™ will be on display at the Formnext stand. Pammer added, “This year, Kumovis shares its Formnext space with the rapid prototyping experts from 3D-LABS who we have been working with for years. With the R1 3D printer, mechanical properties can be achieved as with no other polymer FDM technology. We want to make visible the variety of new possibilities with our booth neighbors in the form of functionalized parts, among other things.”

To illustrate the workflow, there will also be time and space for visitors to take a look at those Kumovis solutions that enable users to adapt device designs to both user and machine requirements right from the digital interface. What is more, there will be a new monitoring technology to continuously measure dimensions and detect defects during production as an inline solution. The Kumovis booth is therefore all about the potential of advanced technologies for creating complex structures, saving resources and decentralizing the manufacturing of medical products.

Managing Partner Miriam Hearst added: “At Kumovis, we have been devoted to delivering the leading 3D printing ecosystem for medical technology since day one. We are thus very happy that key customers and partners such as Switzerland-based Samaplast have been among its first users.” Kumovis introduced the R1 3D printer to the market this past August. It is currently available through a rental model or direct sales.
