The first EOS M 300-4 system will be put into operation at Siemens’ new factory in Worcester, UK.
EOS, one of the world’s leading technology suppliers of high-end solutions in the field of industrial 3D printing of metals and polymers, announced that Materials Solutions – a Siemens business, will be its pilot customer for testing the EOS M 300-4, a metal-based serial additive manufacturing system. The testing will be carried out in close cooperation with the EOS team.
The new system is a part of the EOS M 300 series for metal-based serial additive manufacturing which was recently launched in September 2018 at IMTS in Chicago. The EOS M 300-4 system will be put into operation at the official inauguration of the new Materials Solutions site in Worcester, UK.
Materials Solutions
Materials Solutions – a Siemens business is one of the market leaders offering an integrated solution from software through automation to engineering and manufacturing of final applications. Siemens has opened a new site for Materials Solutions in Worcester, UK. The factory will install new EOS systems to continue and build its close collaboration with EOS.
The company has a proven track record as a trusted and reliable supply chain partner. With an experience of more than a decade in metal additive manufacturing, the company has developed loyal customers in the aerospace, automotive and tooling industry.
EOS M 300-4 System
The EOS M 300-4 system is an integral part of its production cell for serial additive manufacturing with metal materials. The system is based on Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) 3D printing technology which boasts of offering a high degree of flexibility and enhances quality at up to 10x higher productivity.
The system has a build volume of 300 x 300 x 400 mm, fitted with four Ytterbium(Yb)-fiber laser, 4 F-theta-lenses &4 high-speed scanners and a focus diameter of approx. 100 µm (0.004 in).
The system is designed for flexibility, high productivity with improved quality and for automation and (software) integration into existing and future manufacturing environments.

Speaking about the EOS M 300 series, Markus Glasser, Senior Vice President Region Export at EOS says, “The EOS M 300 series is currently the only 3D printing solution for digital industrial production and it especially meets the high demands of production environments. It offers industrial quality, as well as integrated data, powder and parts, flow for easy integration into manufacturing plants.”
He added, “As one of the key drivers for the intelligent factory of the future, additive manufacturing plays an important role and as such becomes an integral part of global digitization strategies. We are pleased that Materials Solutions has decided to intensively test our new system in a pilot phase, giving us important impulses for the continuous further development of our manufacturing solutions.”
Materials Solutions will be intensifying its collaboration with EOS and speaking on being the pilot customer for testing EOS M 300-4, Markus Seibold, VP Additive Manufacturing of the Siemens Power and Gas division said, “Ever since we started using Additive Manufacturing in the Siemens Gas Turbine division nine years ago, we have relied on EOS technology. We expect the new system to deliver high reliability, increased productivity and integration in our digital production systems. Based on the four-laser system, we will further reduce our unit costs for Additive Manufacturing. This makes the business model behind it attractive for even more applications.”
He continued, “At Materials Solutions, we will use this system to continuously expand our additive manufacturing services for the aerospace and automotive industries and other sectors.”
