Nexa3D, a manufacturer of ultrafast stereolithography production 3D printers, announced the release of its new XiP Pro industrial 3D printer, at Rapid + TCT 2023 earlier this week. The XiP Pro promises to revolutionise additive manufacturing by allowing users to produce industrial-grade parts at significantly lower costs than traditional manufacturing methods.

The printer has the highest daily production throughput in its class, with a 19.5-liter build volume and the lowest total cost of ownership. It is claimed to be exponentially faster than its nearest competitor, with one XiP Pro producing the same output as four of the market’s next fastest industrial 3D printers.

“We packaged our most advanced technologies into the XiP Pro, and it exceeds all expectations for what’s possible in terms of productivity and total cost of ownership. XiP Pro is a paradigm shift for industrial users looking to scale additive production. The printer’s compact but rugged aluminium enclosure is built for a tough production floor setting and performance longevity.”

– Avi Reichental, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO, Nexa3D

Nexa3D’s patented Lubricant Sublayer Photo-curing (LSPc) technology is used in the XiP Pro to produce parts with superior surface finish, accuracy, and mechanical properties. The printer’s LSPc technology allows it to produce parts up to six times faster than conventional 3D printers. Users can thus produce high-quality parts at significantly lower costs, making the XiP Pro an appealing alternative to traditional manufacturing methods.

The XiP Pro also includes an integrated software suite that allows users to easily prepare, optimise, and print parts. Nexa3D’s proprietary Quantum software is included in the software suite, allowing users to optimise part geometry, print settings, and material usage to achieve the best possible results. The software suite also includes a number of features aimed at increasing productivity and decreasing downtime, such as automatic calibration and cleaning routines.

Ultrafast Print Speed without Compromise

Tradeoffs have always been an important part of 3D printing; for example, quality compromises must be made for fast production. XiP Pro can print its entire build volume in under two hours, thanks to an industry-leading print speed of up to 24 vertical centimetres per hour. Its patented LCD-based print technology employs a self-lubricating membrane to reduce peel forces and enable ultra-fast print speeds.

Largest Build Volume in Its Class

A single XiP Pro delivers the daily throughput of at least four competitive resin-based printers with a 19.5-liter build volume, allowing users to dramatically change the economics of 3D printing production while also reducing capital investment in equipment. Users can optimise each build by stacking smaller parts on top of one another to take full advantage of XiP Pro’s entire z-stage, thanks to its unique stacking ability.

Unrivaled Accuracy and Surface Quality

In addition to superior speed and throughput, the XiP Pro features a cutting-edge 7K resolution LCD screen with 46m pixel size, ensuring that every detail of a design is captured with unparalleled precision, resulting in stunning and accurate finished products. The advanced sensor package, adaptive layer-by-layer printing technology, and closed-loop z-stage with auto-homing capabilities of the XiP Pro provide improved printability and first-time build success rate.

Broad Material Range and Open Platform

The XiP Pro is an open platform printer that offers a wide range of high-performance materials, including strong and durable resins like xABS, xPP, and xCE, as well as elastomeric materials like xFLEX475 and xFLEX402, providing virtually limitless material options. It is the most versatile industrial 3D printer on the market, capable of prototyping in clear or modelling resins as well as producing end-use components and 3D printed moulds in heat-resistant resins such as xPEEK, xCERAMIC, and xMOLD.

“Nexa3D has done a great job bringing down the costs of 3D printing while increasing production capacity. Their printers are getting bigger, faster, and more affordable which is a total win for users. I’m super excited about the XiP Pro as it is the tool I need to get to a larger scale, giving us about a 10x throughput compared to where we’re at today. With a larger build platform, we’re able to print larger parts, and stack smaller parts for maximum throughput. It’s positively taking the technology in every direction, decreasing cost per part while increasing resolution, speed, and build capacity.”

– Glen Mason, Director, Advanced Manufacturing at Wilson Sporting Goods / DeMarini Sports, a member of select Nexa3D users with early access to the XiP Pro

XiP Pro includes a new and improved NexaX OS, an intelligent, scalable platform for workflow automation, speed, efficiency, and productivity that includes a faster print prep engine and remote monitoring. The new NexaX OS suite speeds up and automates workflow, fleet management, and remote monitoring. It also allows for faster support structure generation in a variety of shapes, faster slicing, border compensation on base layers, and print file size reduction, all of which further optimise and accelerate print prep and build time.

The XiP Pro is ideal for businesses looking to use additive manufacturing to de-risk and streamline supply chains while also economically scaling production. Companies will have no trouble establishing an additive factory because the printer is inexpensive in comparison to the benefits it provides.
