New York-based S-Squared 3D Printers (SQ3D) Inc. developed and unveiled the world’s largest ever construction 3D printer, Autonomous Robotic Construction System (ARCS). The ARCS is a patent-pending system of 3D Printing construction which is a relatively new approach to traditional construction.
Autonomous Robotic Construction System (ARCS)

The ARCS system is developed after years of dedicated research and huge amounts of capital investment. The system is highly efficient and significantly exceeds the traditional method of construction by reducing the construction time and cost by up to 70%. This application-specific 3D printer is capable of building every sort of construction structure such as homes, or commercial buildings, and even infrastructural projects like roads and bridges.

According to the S-Squared team, “The S-Squared 4D Project will revolutionize the home building industry. Using 3D printing technology on a large scale, the end result will be a machine able to print eco-friendly homes in a fraction of the time, saving capital and manpower.”
The printer is considered as the safest, most effective and an eco-friendly method of building structures. It is touted to be the standard for future construction. 3D printing is considered to revolutionise the way we build buildings and SQ3D aims to be one of the driving forces in this sector.

SQ3D has leveraged its proprietary technology to come up with a solution to build complex structures. A typical ARCS project can range from 500 square feet to over 1 million square feet.
ARCS is portable and can easily and safely be set up at the site in only around six hours. OSHA instructors showered praise on the ARCS 3D printer for its potential to reduce some of the most common injuries associated with construction. They added, “This is a game changer that will revolutionize the speed, quality, cost and safety of building and construction.”
The 3D printed structures are sturdy, strong and can withstand some of the most severe climatic conditions including high winds. Structures are impervious to water and are fire and moisture resistant. All structures built with ARCS have a structural integrity that can last a century and require little maintenance.
