Sculpteo, a leading digital manufacturing service provider, has announced the purchase and installation of the AM-Flow system into their 3D printing factory. AM-Flow is an automation system developer with around 8 digital manufacturing solutions to automate the entire factory, including AM-VISION, AM-SORT, and AM-BAGGING.

This cutting-edge system will transform Sculpteo’s manufacturing process by utilising advanced vision technology to identify parts, automate sorting, and provide labelling and bagging capabilities.

Sorting and packaging 3D printed parts is an important step in the 3D printing process. The system in which Sculpteo invested includes a number of automation technologies. First, a programme called AM-VISION employs a 3D shape recognition system to determine the nature of 3D printed parts based on their geometry in less than 0.2 seconds. After identifying the 3D printed parts, they are sorted using another system called AM-SORT, and then labelled and bagged using AM-BAGGING.

AM-Flow assists businesses in scaling their Additive Manufacturing production by providing digital part identification technologies that enable them to automate their post-processing processes. AM-expertise Flow’s in 3D-shape detection, industrial machine vision, and AI software enables it to deliver blocks that fully automate the 3D printing process.

“We were honoured to have Alexandre d’Orsetti, CEO of Sculpteo, visit us in Amsterdam and are thrilled to continue our work with Sculpteo on this project. A huge shout-out to Alexandre and his team for choosing our company and for their continued trust in our products and services.”

Meeting at Formnext 2022

Hugo Ploegmakers, Director of Products at AM-Flow, spoke with Alexandre d’Orsetti, CEO of Sculpteo, about the increased presence of automation systems and robots at Formnext 2022. He believes that automation is an important component of additive manufacturing and that it will lead to increased profitability, efficiency, and quality. He also discussed the bottleneck of high mix parts and the industry’s need for quality control.

“The AM-Flow system not only brings assistance in sorting parts, but also offers an opportunity to rethink and redesign our production flow. It’s not just about incorporating a machine, but also adding more quality control earlier in the steps. Ultimately, AM-Flow presents a way for us to improve not just sorting, but the entire flow.”

– Alexandre d’Orsetti, CEO of Sculpteo

Sculpteo will continue to automate its factory with the help of the AM-Flow system, and the commitment of both companies will ensure the success of this collaboration.
