SLM Solutions, one of the leading suppliers of metal-based additive manufacturing technologies announced that it is going to present its metal-based Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology at the upcoming MACH 2018 event in Great Britain.
According to an official release by the company, SLM will present its SLM 280 2.0 3D printer at MACH 2018. The SLM 280 2.0 works on the patented multi-beam technology. Having a construction space size of 280 x 280 x 365 mm³, it is one of the most powerful machines in its class with laser output of up to 2 x 700 W, the machine is an all-purpose system for both Research & Development (R&D) divisions and for production processes using SLM processes.
The machine is also ideal for the complete process chain or closed loop of generative manufacturing from data generation and selective laser melting to powder recovery and reprocessing.

The SLM 280 2.0 is available in different configurations offering single optics (1x 400W or 1x 700W), dual optics (1x 700W and 1x 1000W) and twin optics (2x 400W or 2x 700W). This machine can help users achieve an 80% higher build rate depending on how the components are arranged. Moreover, the company’s patented bidirectional powder coating helps users to save time required to manufacture individual metal build parts.

“SLM Solutions is represented for the first time at MACH with a trade fair booth. The focus of our participation is on mechanical engineering and the manufacturing industry. Using many practical examples, we will show how components made of metal powder are melted layer by layer into stable, geometrically complex structures using the selective laser melting process. We also present the integration of SLM® manufacturing technology into lean, competitive production processes,” stated Stefan Ritt, Vice President and Head of Global Marketing and Communications at SLM Solutions Group AG.
Scheduled to take place from April 9 to April 13 in Birmingham, Great Britain, MACH is the country’s premier manufacturing technologies event. It takes place every two years and attracts in excess of 25,000 trade visitors, including many important decision-makers.
It is one of those events that showcases advanced engineering and manufacturing and gives all participants insights into the latest developments and the best innovations in the field of manufacturing technologies as well as help them discover new products and suppliers and even build new business relationships.
