9T Labs, specialists in digital, automated, cost-competitive series production of continuous fibre components, is expanding its operations to the US with an office in Boston. It officially incorporated as a company in the US last month.
The decision was made in response to the company’s plans for expansion, which included a $17-million USD Series A funding round earlier this year to help commercialise the innovative 9T Labs Red Series® Additive Fusion Solution platform for the production of continuous fibre components or advanced continuous fibre-reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) composite parts.
The opening of 9T Lab’s first office in the United States will provide the country’s brightest minds and structural composites innovators with the opportunity to learn about and experience the Swiss company’s unique advancements in composite additive manufacturing. The first members of the US team will be hired in the coming weeks, with the following employees traveling to Zurich, Switzerland, to train with the technology at 9T Labs’ headquarters.
“We are very excited to start this next step for the company. Our team is confident of a strong impact on the American markets by our latest innovations in advanced composite additive manufacturing, and we look forward to working with US investors and expanding our reach to customers.”– Martin Eichenhofer, CEO at 9T Labs
9T Labs Chairman, John Hartner, former Chief Executive Officer of ExOne (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) is an experienced leader with more than 30 years’ involvement in the automation, semiconductor, clean tech, and 3D printing industries. Based in the United States, Hartner noted after the Series A funding round, “I have been impressed by the company’s unique solution and am very excited to help the team to bring this technology to manufacturing companies around the world.”
The complexities of anisotropic materials and the manual process of manufacturing carbon composites are well understood by 9T Labs experts. To make things easier, they set out to provide an all-in-one solution to assist our customers in dramatically increasing their production of continuous fibre components and turning their series production ideas into production cases in months rather than years.
The software as a service suite from 9T Labs, which is powered by integrated commercial FEA simulation tools, enables rapid turnaround of highly optimized designs. This is combined with cutting-edge additive manufacturing technology and advanced post-processing technology to enable the serial production of structural composite parts.
About 9T Labs: 9T Labs was founded in 2018 by a team of pioneers, passionate about bringing the next generation of high-performance manufacturing. The company aspires to mass-produce sustainable, high-performance composites as easily as metals. This is done by automating and digitising the production workflow of composite production at the most innovative companies.
