Essentium, Inc., a leading innovator of industrial additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, announced the launch of four new 3D printing bed adhesives specifically tailored for Essentium’s portfolio of materials and the Essentium High Speed Extrusion (HSETM) 3D Printing Platform. The adhesives were developed through a collaboration with Magigoo.

These new 3D printing bed adhesives will provide manufacturers with a reliable adhesion solution for industrial-scale 3D printing.

Magigoo is a brand operated by Thought3D, an R&D company focusing on disrupting the Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing Space. It produces and sells the Magigoo® and Magigoo® PRO adhesives worldwide through a network of resellers and industry partners.

Magigoo is an easy to use 3D printing adhesive designed to address “the first layer not sticking problem”, the most common problem found in FDM 3D printing technology. This problem occurs when a print detaches itself from the printing platform ruining itself.

Magigoo original works with most commonly printed plastics e.g. PLA, ABS, HIPS, PETG, HIPS, TPU and has been already recognised by many well-known vendors of filament materials and 3D printer manufacturers

ESSENTIUM & MAGIGOO COLLABORATION

Essentium worked with Magigoo, a leading provider of 3D printing bed adhesive solutions, to improve the bed-adhesion of different engineering-grade polymers.

Essentium has developed four bed adhesives available immediately:

  • Standard – Designed to work with a variety of 3D printing filaments
  • Nylon Filaments – Designed to work exclusively with Polyamide filaments
  • Flexible Filaments – Designed to work exclusively with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) filaments
  • High-Temperature Filaments – Designed to work at high printing temperatures

The Essentium 3D Printing Bed Adhesives – Powered by Magigoo are designed to work with heated beds. The adhesives stick the print firmly in place while printing and then ‘magically’ release the print once the bed has cooled. This allows for consistent and reliable printing without needing to use rafts, tapes, harsh chemicals, or other solutions.

According to Brandon Sweeney, Ph.D., Head of R&D for Materials and Co-founder, Essentium Inc., “Continuous innovation across the entire 3D printing ecosystem is central to the revolutionary shift to large-scale additive manufacturing and Essentium is committed to providing a powerful platform to help manufacturers drive significant performance improvements. For customers, these new adhesives enable high-quality prints every time while also being solvent-free and environmentally friendly.”

Essentium is introducing a large sized – 120ml – adhesive to meet the growing demand for industrial 3D printed parts that are transforming today’s factory floors.
