Caracol to showcase Robotic Large-Format Additive Manufacturing Platform at IMTS

Key Takeaways

Caracol, a leading large-format Additive Manufacturing technology provider, will make its debut at IMTS (Chicago, September 9th-14th), a major US manufacturing tradeshow. It will demonstrate how its robotic large-format additive manufacturing platform can help manufacturers produce industrial large-scale 3D printed parts with greater efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability thanks to advanced technology.

Caracol will also demonstrate the disruptive potential of LFAM and robotics in industrial scenarios at its booth (433039, North Hall).

Visitors will be able to get an up-close look at the capabilities of LFAM via Caracol’s innovative flagship Heron AM integrated AM platform using live on-booth 3D printing with its partner, KUKA (booth #236807, West Hall). This modular hardware-software robotic system operates on 6+ axes, allowing manufacturers in key industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and maritime to produce thermoplastic composite parts with extremely complex geometries and no scale or shape limitations.

Caracol’s partnership with KUKA is the result of years of close collaboration, during which Caracol developed and industrialized their robotic AM platform using KUKA’s six-axis robotic arms for kinematics. KUKA’s decision to use Caracol as a reference for LFAM applications on their booth demonstrates their close collaboration and Caracol’s leadership position in the field of robotic 3D printing.

“IMTS’s expanded focus on additive manufacturing and automation this year highlights the growing impact of these technologies in industrial supply chains. Since our inception, we’ve harnessed robotics to revolutionize large-scale 3D printing, enabling unparalleled efficiency, flexibility, and geometric freedom that conventional methods can’t match. We’re excited to showcase these capabilities through our customer projects at IMTS 2024.”

Violetta Nespolo, Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Caracol AM

With offices in Italy, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates, Caracol has grown into a global powerhouse with a team of over 80 professionals and a network of 50 partners in 42 countries.

About Caracol: Caracol was founded in 2017 in Milan, Italy, with the goal of pushing the boundaries of additive manufacturing in terms of scale, efficiency, and sustainability. Caracol provides additive manufacturing technology for advanced components to customers in industries such as aerospace, marine, energy, design, and architecture by integrating a patented extrusion head, developing dedicated software, and using robotic arms as movement support.
