Rapid Shape, the south Germany technology company in the field of generative rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing systems, has announced its plans to collaborate with VOCO, dental material specialists from Germany, to bundle their capabilities into a partnership to provide their customers with the highest level of flexibility when choosing work material.

The plan is to synchronise the 3D printers from Rapid Shape with the 3D printing materials from VOCO to offer optimal printing results.

Rapid Shape has years of experience in 3D printing and offers professional solutions specialized for the dental, hearing aid and other industrial markets. Recently, Rapid Shape has grown to be one of the top players in high-end dental laboratories, as well as in centralized production spaces. A validated workflow secures high quality output whilst the open-system allows for flexibility.

Speaking on the collaboration with VOCO, Andreas Schultheiss – the Managing Director of Rapid Shape commented, “The open-system is giving our customers the possibility to choose the right material for their use. VOCO is another high-quality material partner by our side, who is enlarging and enhancing our portfolio. We are looking forward to the development work together with VOCO to provide more validated V-Print materials for our 3D-printer.”

For more than three decades, VOCO is known as an explorative dental company with high competence in light curing plastics for restorative dentistry. VOCO is using their knowledge and experience in the segment of digital dentistry for a couple of years already and has successfully established numerous products worldwide; especially 3D-printing materials of the V-Print-family.

VOCO print materials are now certified for Rapid Shape 3D printers. In the first release the V-Print splint, V-Print SG and V-Print model are available for Rapid Shape 3D printers of second and third generation, like the D20+, D30+, D20 II, D30 II and D40 II, right now.

Customers with a service contract in the knowledge centre can find the current Rapidshape-Engine with new material parameter:

  • V-Print splint is conducting the production of the transparent toothed rack with high flexibility as a Class IIa medical product.
  • V-print SG is also accredited as a Class IIa medical product and therefore indexed for direct contact with wounds.
  • V-Print model is a material for producing dental models with a high scratch resistance. It is suitable for Thermoforming and stays dimensionally accurate despite heat input.

Speaking on the collaboration, Olaf Sauerbier, Managing Director of VOCO GmbH said, “By high and consequent requirements regarding quality and innovation, VOCO and Rapid Shape pursue same values. Therefore Rapid Shape is the ideal partner to enlarge and push our strength in the 3D-print material field.”
