SLM Solutions, the industry innovator in metal-based additive manufacturing, proudly announces its next ground-breaking and record-breaking metal 3D printing solution, which forever changes the scale of what can be manufactured. The revolutionary solution will upend the industry by enabling the production of high-quality metal parts up to 3.0 x 1.2 x 1.2 Meter in size (LxWxH).

The large part machine concept includes a core unit and a build envelope that is scalable, allowing for the production of components in custom sizes. When combined with the benefits of SLM® technology, the game-changer gives users the option of perfectly tailored production with individual requirements – without the usual constraints.

Record-Breaking Metal 3D Printing Solution

When it comes to the size of the build chamber, Additive Manufacturing reaches its limits. Large parts are frequently unable to be manufactured because they exceed the available installation space on the market. This problem is solved by the flexible system, which will be a huge boost for the entire additive manufacturing industry. It can, for example, produce cylindrical parts with a diameter of 1.8 metres and a height of 1.6 metres, as well as long parts with dimensions of up to 3.0 x 1.2 x 1.2 metres. It allows for a build rate of up to 330 cm3/h.

“This is yet another piece of game changing technology that opens up new possibilities to transition applications AM, by removing previously accepted geometrical restrictions. Every price of technology we develop is testament to our incredible team of relentless innovators, who solve our customers’ manufacturing challenges and change the future of manufacturing forever.”

– Sam O’Leary, CEO, SLM Solutions

The new record-breaking metal 3D printing solution enables large metal parts to be manufactured additively, which was previously impossible. At the same time, it provides all of the benefits of SLM® technology, such as design freedom and the ability to combine multiple parts into one.

Sam O’Leary added, “It is not only a simple addition to SLM Solutions machine portfolio. It is a real revolution of manufacturing. We can’t wait to show the giant and massive metal parts. It’s almost unbelievable, but convince yourself.”
