Manufacturers are increasing their reliance on 3D printing as part of their broader manufacturing strategies. A relatively young 3D printing company in India, STPL3D is taking the challenge head-on. The Surat-based company, which is one of the several 3D printing companies in India offering rapid prototyping & additive manufacturing services has created many phenomenal 3D printed sculptures for its clients across the country.
Recently, they have created an IRONMAN statue for its client in Bangalore, India. This life-size statue has been made through additive manufacturing. The colourful 3D printed sculpture is the result of cooperation between the design team and the 3D printing team.
Inspired by aliens, robots, marvel and science-fiction creations, the STPL3D’s design engineer first designed a digital 3D model based on photographs of the marvel character. The sculpture measures 6 x 3 x 3 feet and is made up of 11 pieces.
The 3D printing team at STPL3D produced individual parts with FDM machines. The pieces were sent to the coloring studio where the artist smoothed and colored the surfaces before putting them together to make the IRONMAN sculpture. The entire working process took just 20 days.
This is not the first time that the company has created such models at a rapid pace. In March 2019, STPL3D also developed a fully 3D printed 6 feet “SPIDERMAN” sculpture with extreme detail in just one week. The fully 3D printed model of Spiderman was created for a traditional fine-arts manufacturer based in Surat city of the state of Gujarat, India.
