TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH names 3D Systems “Additive Manufacturing Machine Provider of Choice”

TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG), a subsidiary of TOYOTA Motor Corporation, entered into a partnership with 3D Systems, to revolutionise the additive manufacturing solutions offered for the automotive sector. As part of this partnership, TMG named 3D Systems “Additive Manufacturing Machine Provider of Choice”.
The partnership aims to develop first-to-market manufacturing solutions which includes additive manufacturing systems, AM materials and the AM software. This is set to rapidly change the way automobiles are designed and manufactured worldwide.

The collaboration intends to leverage TMG’s world-class advanced digital manufacturing capabilities & expertise and its high-performance testing and development facility located in Cologne, Germany clubbed with 3D Systems’ pioneering expertise in 3D printing, materials and systems and its experience in the automotive industry where its solutions are deployed globally for track cars and road cars.
Commenting on the partnership, Andreas Schambach, project general manager future production technology, TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH, said, “In motorsport, we know that being first is what counts and we bring this same attitude to our entire business. He added, “TMG’s facility will become a showcase for world-class advanced digital manufacturing. Our team of experts will complement that of 3D Systems’, to develop advanced laser sintering technologies, and a portfolio of materials with improved properties to meet the rigorous demands of motorsport. We intend to use these new technologies to more quickly and efficiently create light-weight, high quality production parts for our motorsport projects, leading to competitive advantage.”
