Indian Army inaugurates 3D Printed Building

This newly built barrack addresses the critical need for effective housing solutions for troops in remote and difficult terrain. The initiative’s goal is to speed up the housing process while providing quality housing for Jawans by utilising advanced construction techniques.
“The introduction of this 3D printed barrack represents a significant achievement for our forces, especially in areas where traditional constructions may be impractical. This technology allows us to respond quickly to housing requirements.
– Major General KTG Krishnan, General Officer Commanding, Shahbaaz Division

Collaboration with IIT Hyderabad, Military Engineer Services, and Simpliforge Creations has been critical to making this vision a reality. As the Indian Army celebrates 2024 as the Year of Technology Absorption, it is committed to further integrating such ground-breaking solutions into their everyday operations.
With this achievement, the Indian Army intends to expand the use of advanced construction techniques, thereby improving housing and infrastructure for its personnel. This development sets a new standard for innovation in military construction. Senior military officials attended the inauguration ceremony, which marked a significant step forward in the Army’s modernisation efforts.
On-site 3D printed construction in Jhansi Cantonment

Simpliforge Creations, the Hyderabad based construction 3D Printing Startup, recently also carried out another construction project for the Indian Army. It completed an on-site 3D printed construction at the Military Hospital in Jhansi Cantonment.
Unlike previous 3D printing efforts, which were carried out off-site, this milestone emphasises the transformative potential of on-site 3D printing, which has the potential to revolutionise military infrastructure by ensuring faster, more efficient, and flexible construction.
