UltiMaker, a global pioneer in 3D printing, has announced the availability of the new MakerBot Sketch Sprint 3D printing solution. This innovative solution is intended for educational settings and seeks to elevate or improve 3D printing in the classroom.
The MakerBot Sketch was first presented as a 3D printer for the classroom, and it was enhanced with the release of the MakerBot Sketch Large exactly two years ago, in October 2022, and now with the Sketch Sprint, it is getting a new upgrade. UltiMaker’s Sprint update introduces new capabilities and a new focus on the educational sector.
The Sketch Sprint starts at USD $2,399.00 and is slated to ship in mid-November 2024.
MakerBot Sketch Sprint

The MakerBot Sketch Sprint 3D printer can print up to five times faster than traditional desktop 3D printers1, allowing instructors to make the most of their class time. Because of its capacity to speed up the transition from design to printing, students can participate in more hands-on class projects and freely explore their ideas. Sketch Sprint does not sacrifice quality or dependability for speed.
The heated build plate, mesh levelling, and vibration correction allow the printer to produce more detailed and precise prints. The compact design and rapid printing technique make it suitable for 3D printing in a variety of disciplines and grade levels.
“Investing in education is not just about enhancing the classroom experience; it is about equipping students with the right skills needed to succeed beyond school. Sketch Sprint offers safe and reliable 3D printing that we believe will help prepare students to thrive in a rapidly evolving job market.”
– Michiel Alting von Geusau, CEO at UltiMaker
Features for 3D Printing in the Classroom

Sketch Sprint is offered on UltiMaker Digital Factory, a complete 3D print management solution. Digital Factory allows teachers to effortlessly connect and manage multiple printers, queue print tasks, and accept student submissions from any device.
Digital Factory’s new Cura Cloud functionality is also now accessible. Cura Cloud integrates slicing capabilities from the popular UltiMaker Cura desktop tool and makes them available through Digital Factory, resulting in a quick and seamless transition from CAD to component. Cura Cloud provides customised print settings for Sketch Sprint, as well as crucial features that enable high print success and quality. All Sketch printers, including the Sketch Sprint, are now compatible with Cura desktop’s current 5.9 version, which includes extensive slicing features.
Another important factor to consider when designing Sketch Sprint is safety. The printer was rigorously tested and approved by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a nationally known test laboratory and global leader in applied safety science. Sketch Sprint has been independently certified to fulfill the UL 2904 safety criteria for particle and chemical emissions from 3D printers. Sketch Sprint is totally sealed, has an integrated and active HEPA + carbon filtering system, and has safety features such as a digital PIN to prevent illegal access.
With classroom-friendly PLA and Tough PLA filaments, the printer fosters a safe and clean learning environment for students. Sketch Sprint also includes industry-standard training tools to help instructors implement safe 3D printing procedures.
“For more than 10 years, we have been dedicated to working closely with educators to create tools and resources necessary to successfully use 3D printing with their students. Our commitment has fostered exciting and fun learning experiences that ignite creativity, improve critical thinking skills, and empower students with confidence in the classroom and in their careers.”
