Zortrax Introduces three new Castable Resins for Jewelry Applications

3 Mins read

Zotrax announced the introduction of three new castable resins for jewelry applications. Known as BlueCast Original, BlueCast X5, and BlueCast X10 are special-purpose castable resins designed for jewelry casting. They are functional equivalents of wax and can be used in the same process with the same toolset. Combined with the speed and precision of Zortrax Inkspire, they make jewelry making process more precise, faster and therefore efficient.

The three new resins join the range of materials optimized for Zortrax Inkspire UV LCD 3D printer. Their profiles will be available in the new  Z-SUITE slicing software release which also opens the program up to third-party LCD 3D printers.

BlueCast X5 is a resin designed for European style jewelry like engagement rings and stone settings. The material leaves no ash residue during burnout and contains no toxic compounds that could potentially contaminate the investment. Printed on the Inkspire, it offers smooth surfaces and high level of detail. BlueCast X5 does not require post-curing which speeds up the jewelry casting process even further. Apart from engagement rings, the material is recommended for medals and tools for stones presetting.

BlueCast X10 is aimed primarily at the American market where jewelry is usually more bulky and casted with larger amounts of metal. The resin works great in printing relatively large investment patterns used for signet rings and items casted with silver. BlueCast X10 is compatible with all kinds of investments and can be used for fast burnouts at 740 °C.

BlueCast Original is made for highly detailed, filigree designs typically encountered in the Middle-Eastern jewelry. The resin offers exceptional dimensional accuracy and quality of surfaces. After printing, it can be hand-shaped which is necessary for items with micro-pave settings or micro-incisions.

Printing profiles for all three castable resins will be included in the Z-SUITE 2.11.0 release which for the first time is going to support third-party LCD 3D printers.

The new Z-SUITE brings unparalleled integration, ease of use, and simplicity to the resin 3D printing landscape. Now, not only Inkspire’s users can work with one thoroughly tested and engineered tool with all the functionalities previously distributed among multiple applications. First time in history, Z-SUITE is now open for LCD printers. Thanks to the functions it currently offers, it becomes the most comprehensive 3D printing management software available on the market for LCD printers. It brings together all the most important functions offered by the competition in one place. Here’s what it brings to the table.

Rotation Optimization Tool is an advanced algorithm that optimizes models position on the build platform to achieve user defined parameters like maximized contact with the build platform, minimal amount of necessary support, and multiple others. Raft-free 3D printing allows placing a model with supports directly on the build platform. Hollow type infill and a capability to add cavities in the model are great resin saving features. An Undo functionality is something a vast majority of users is used to and in Z-SUITE it works as expected.

Once the Ctrl+Z combination is pressed, Z-SUITE takes back the last performed action. Split functionality comes in handy when an already loaded model needs to be printed in parts or when some of its components need to be removed. Intelligent support structures automatically generated to match the model’s geometry and an ability to manually add or remove individual supports are both great at preventing failed prints. The list goes on and on.

Apart from integration and ease of use, Z-SUITE has all the advantages that come with using software developed by a well-established manufacturer. It is updated on a regular basis. A dedicated team of engineers is constantly at work to improve its current functionalities and come up with the new ones. In case of any issues, there is a support department customers can get in touch with for help at all times.

All this makes Z-SUITE the most comprehensive slicing software on the market. And now everyone with an LCD 3D printer can use it. It is available for download since August 21, 2019.
