INDO-MIM, the world’s largest Metal Injection Moulding company based in Bengaluru, India, has announced the purchase of five new HP Metal Jet S100 3D printers. This expansion builds upon the company’s successful partnership with HP that began in late 2023.
The expansion comes after INDO-MIM’s successful implementation of three Metal Jet S100 units in early 2024, where the company established its Additive Manufacturing production cell. The addition of five new machines marks a significant scaling up of the company’s metal Binder Jetting capabilities.
Five new HP Metal Jet S100 3D Printers
INDO-MIM has demonstrated remarkable progress in developing applications since installing its initial three HP Metal Jet S100 machines. The company has created solutions for both internal tooling needs and external OEM requirements across various industries. The production-ready HP printers at INDO-MIM can handle volumes ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 pieces annually, depending on component size.
The HP Metal Jet S100 3D printers features an effective build volume of 430 x 309 x 140 mm and meets MPIF standards for stainless steel materials. The complete Metal Jet workflow includes a powder management station, the Metal Jet S100 3D printing machine, a curing station, and a powder removal station.
Strengthening Global Manufacturing Capabilities
With over 3,000 employees producing more than 150 million Metal Injection Moulding parts annually, INDO-MIM operates a significant manufacturing presence globally. The company currently manages four binder-jet printers in Bangalore, India, and three in San Antonio, Texas.
“The quality of the HP S100 platform, combined with the strong expertise of INDO-MIM, has allowed us to deliver many customer projects on time, within budget and with outstanding results.”
– François Minec, VP & Global Head of Sales and Business Development at HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions
The expansion will support INDO-MIM’s in-house powder development capabilities and enable rapid growth in metal Binder Jetting services. This investment strengthens the company’s position in the metal 3D printing market, particularly in the metal binder jetting segment, which is noted for its scalability among metal 3D printing processes.
The collaboration which started early last year, resulted in three machines of which two are stationed in India and provide localised support to Indian clients while also expanding production capabilities. One is being used on new material development, while the other will drive application development and serve customers in India, the Middle East, and the rest of Asia-Pacific. The third printer was installed at the Indo-MIM facility in Texas, USA.
